Let’s be honest—French toast is the queen of breakfast comfort food. Now imagine it with a twist of fresh orange zest and a kiss of cinnamon... Yep, it’s magical.
This easy orange-cinnamon French toast is my love letter to slow mornings. It’s bright, warm, and filled with flavors that wrap around you like a soft blanket.
Growing up, my mom made this version every Sunday. The scent of orange zest and cinnamon wafting through the house? That’s a core memory. Now I get to share it with you—so go ahead, pour some syrup, and make this a morning to remember.
Description
Fluffy orange-cinnamon French toast with a citrus twist.
Ingredients
4slices slices of thick bread (brioche or challah recommended)
2 large eggs
1/2cup of milk
1tsp of vanilla extract
1tsp of orange zest (about half an orange)
1/2tsp of ground cinnamon
1tsp of sugar
butter (for the skillet)
Maple syrup, powdered sugar, orange slices, for serving (optional)
Instructions
1
Make the custard: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, orange zest, cinnamon, and sugar (if using)
2
Dip the bread: Soak each slice of bread in the mixture for about 20–30 seconds per side, making sure it absorbs but doesn’t fall apart.
3
Cook the toast: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add a small pat of butter and cook the slices 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
4
Serve warm: Top with syrup, powdered sugar, or even a few orange slices if you're feeling extra fancy!
